Have you ever been to a webpage about jewelry and you couldn't understand some of the terminology used?
Well, here are a few interesting facts about jewelry.
Deferent kinds of diamond cuts:
- Round brilliant cut: A round brilliant cut is a pretty cut, if you are a modern girl, you would like this cut.
They call this cut a brilliant cut due to the brilliant sparkle of the diamond. This round cut has the most sparkle of them all.
- Princess Cut: A princess cut is the prettiest cut in the whole world. This cut is preferred by woman with small hands and short fingers. It will make your hand stand out, and every one will see it.
A princess cut looks a lot like a square from the top. This cut does not sparkle as much as an emerald or round cut.
- Emerald cut: An emerald cut is a fancy but classic cut. This cut has a lot of corners and it can also be described as steps of stairs, because it looks like stairs. Don't get confused about an emerald cut and emerald birthstones because some people do.
- Baguette cut: A baguette cut is a modern kind of cut, but for me it is not as beautiful as a princess cut, but taste differs. This cut is very similar to a semi mount cut.
A baguette cut normally has a long rectangular shape with 4 points sticking upwards when viewed from above.
These are some of the basic diamond cuts. There's a lot more, but these are the most common types being bought.
It's very important to check the following facts about diamonds before buying any kind of jewelry:
The 4 Cs will determine the price of the jewelry.
- Clarity: The clarity is really important to check since it determines how many flaws a diamond has. The fewer flaws, the more valuable a diamond is.
- Cut: The cut determines how well a diamond will sparkle (brilliance). A diamond with a reduced cut will not sparkle as much as an excellent cut.
- Carat: The carat can be described as the weight of the diamond. The heavier the diamond, the more valuable it is.
- Color: Most diamonds have colors but a colorless diamond is worth more than a diamond with a pickle of color. However, some diamonds with certain bright intense colors such as pink and blue are extremely valuable.
The 4 Cs are not the only factors in determining the value of a diamond, since other factors such as brand and certification also has an influence on the price.
Tips to keep your beautiful jewelry in good condition:

Ever wondered what things such as 18kt (carat) and 9kt gold means? It's simple really. I's just a measure of the amount of gold being used. 24kt is 100% and 18kt is 75%. 12kt therefore will contain 50% gold.
